RUTH RAE was born and raised in rural British Columbia. Exploring the dramatic and varied landscape of her community by the ocean in her youth kindled a life long love of the natural world that would inspire Ruth to become a fine artist later in life. Self taught throughout her life she has depth of knowledge that informs her work.
Inspired by iconic Canadian painters such as E.J. Hughes, Emily Carr, and Lawren Harris, Ruth Rae's paintings resonate with a unique quality that seek to evoke a sense of place. Known for her signature landscapes of the Comox Valley she is now producing works inspired by the surrounding Gulf islands and breathtaking vistas of all of Vancouver Island.
